It’s not too late to vote for our songs in the next few weeks, but it ends today – Song Voting

We will be singing – but no other changes will be made to our Risk Assessment for Coronavirus.  Please remember that wearing a mask hardly protects you from infection.  But if you’re infectious it really helps you not to be spreading it to other.  So wearing a mask really is a visible sign that you ‘Love your Neighbour’.  See below for a very clear graphic that we’ll be trying to stick to at least for the coming weeks.

Singing!

This Sunday we will Sing!  But this will be the only concession we will make to the removal of restrictions.  All other things we do to restrict the spread of COVID-19 will be kept in place.  We hope to slowly remove them one by one.  This is indeed frustrating, but we want to be good neighbours to everyone – including those who are vulnerable and anxious.
We have a poll that will help us choose the songs for the next few weeks.   You can choose only three of the following Hymns and Songs.  Polls close on Saturday!

10,000 Reasons

In Christ Alone

What a Beautiful Name it is

Waymaker

Raise a Hallelujah

How Great is our God

Amazing Grace

How Great Thou Art

King of Kings Majesty

Great is Thy Faithfulness

My Jesus, My Saviour

Build your Kingdom Here

There is a Redeemer

And Can it Be

Be Still For The Presence Of The Lord

Guide Me O Thou Great Redeemer

Goodness of God (All my life you have been faithful)

O For A Thousand Tongues To Sing

Praise, My Soul, The King Of Heaven

The Lords my Shepherd (I will trust)

That’s all the Songs!  Now click here to cast your three votes only!

Come and Work with us!

Please pray with us for the right person to come and work with us here in the Parish of Girlington, Heaton and Manningham.  The Job advert is available here – please share it widely!

It was Sue’s last day working with us yesterday.  What a privilege to have breakfast with Church Leaders from around the city to pray with her and her husband Ian as they move to South East Asia working with CMS

If you missed our Baptisms last week there is a page with links and a recap here

Please pray for Clare and Chris – we head into a time of increased pressure without Sue, we’ll miss her terribly.

Sunday 20th June 2021 – Baptism Service and Farewell to Sue

The weather forecast for Sunday has meant a few changes need to be made to our plans.

We have a Baptism service at St Paul’s Church – Manningham starting at 11am.  It will be inside and we will do our best to cope with COVID regulations.  So please bring your mask and sorry but after promising that we’d sing it will not be possible this time.  We are not fully setup for streaming but we can certainly send a live feed of the proceedings online so if you cannot make it please lookout for notifications from YouTube.

We will also be saying a very fond farewell to Rev Sue Jennings, our Associate Vicar.  She has been central to our leadership in the Parish for many years now and it will be very hard to say goodbye.

We will attempt to have some sort of event afterwards it may not be what it should be!  Please bear with us, and please remember that you really do need to follow instructions when asked to stay in your seat and keep your mask on.

As a way for you all to contribute to the Baptism can you please bring a thermos flask with boiling water in it. During the service we will all pour our hot water contributions into the full size baptismal pool – bringing something from our own homes as a contribution.  It will also make the whole experience more pleasant for our baptism candidates.

10am Prayer meeting at St Paul’s –  St Paul’s Rd, Bradford BD8 7LS

Sunday 13th June 2021 – Generous Hospitality: In the Household

mary Martha

This Sunday at our Parish Communion Service we will continue our series on Generous Hospitality: This week is entitled “In the Household” – looking at the story of Mary and Martha. Luke 10: 38-42.

We meet at 11am in St Philip’s Church. It’s the usual link to join us online.

Prayer beforehand is at 10am back in the church but also on zoom at the usual link.

Notices

On 20th June 2021 we will be having a Baptism service at 11am.  This will be held at St Paul’s Church, Manningham – it is complicated and not advisable to have such a change of venue but there are many good reasons for it.  This service will be outside – so not livestreamed.  We will be able to SING! We will be recording much of the event and a video summary will be available YouTube, hopefully before the end of Sunday.

We will also be saying a very fond farewell to the Rev Sue Jennings as it will be her last Sunday – we will still be under restrictions of course but we have far more scope to be ‘normal’ outside so please come and celebrate Sue’s ministry with us.

Our first parish wedding in a long while is taking place tomorrow – Sat 12 June – in St Barnabas Church.  Please pray for Hollie and Oliver and their family as they get married after many postponements.
