Remembrance Sunday 8 Nov 2020 – back to Livestreaming

Poppies

This week we’re back online only!  We’ll start at 10.45 to be ready for a tribute at 11am for those who have given their lives for the country.  We’ll also be continuing with our Ephesians Series as well.

The service will be more in the style of our YouTube services over Lockdown 1 – but will be happening Live.  So please bear with us – this hasn’t happened before!

We have been praying together from 10am for the past few weeks – this will be on Zoom this week.  If you’ve not been before, please come and try it.  Our nation needs prayer more than ever.  There is no need to pray out loud if you don’t want.  Please come just to say ‘Amen’!  As usual all the links you need are here: https://linktr.ee/ParishofGHM

If you are subscribed to our YouTube channel you’ll get a notification that we’ve gone live – if you aren’t subscribed – why not!??

Sunday 1st November 2020 – All Saints’ Day

Sunday morning we meet again at 11am for our service of Holy Communion in St Philip’s Church. The Theme is Thanksgiving – it’s live on our Youtube Channel.
https://linktr.ee/ParishofGHM

A good number of us have been praying creatively for the city and our churches from 10am
The Bible says “if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.” We need some of that at the moment, so if you haven’t been before please come and join us – there is no coffee after church so you get more time to catch up with others too.

All Saints’ Day and All Souls Day will be celebrated together at an event to remember those we have lost this year.
Please invite those you know who might appreciate the opportunity to grieve more formally and creatively. We mentioned this last week – details are here. Some of this will now be taking place inside due to the weather.

Don’t forget we are praying around the parish on Saturday night – Halloween – meet at any of our 4 Churches at 4pm to shine a light in dark places – literally and spiritually!

Sunday 25th October 2020 – Our place in Christ – Ephesians Chapter 1

Sunday holds quite a normal experience this week.  Nothing different from last week, no time changes for the service ….. EXCEPT that the clocks go back so unless you change them you’ll be early!
Which will be great because at 10am we continue with our new Prayer Meeting before the service.

Please join us if you can – we want to lift our service to God and continue to pray for the nation and the world. At 11am we will have a short Parish Communion Service looking at Ephesians Chapter 1 together called “Our place in Christ” .

We hope you can join us at St Philip’s Church

If you are unable to join us then you can watch it live at this link.

All Hallows Weekend – 31 October and 1 November 2020

It was good to see so many of you at church physically or watching online today.
You may have noticed that the notices were a bit confusing! So here is a clear explanation of what will be happening in 2 weeks time.

31 October – Halloween Prayer Walking

Darkness has the threat of despair and misery while light has a promise of hope and restoration. We believe Jesus is our light – and in him there is no darkness at all. We are called to be people of Light.

On an evening often celebrated for Darkness – come join us as we prayer walk our communities as people of light.

We will gather to walk from each church at 4pm.

Each place we stop to pray we will leave a visible reminder that light wins and darkness has no power.

When: Saturday 31st October

Time: 4pm – 6pm

Where: Meet by the front door of either, St Martin’s, St Paul’s, St Barnabas or St Philip’s

1 November – All Hallows Day

We will commemorate All Hallows and All Souls Day together on 1st November. A day of prayer and thanksgiving to remember saints who have encouraged us in our Christian life and at this time of COVID-19 to remember those we have lost, but been unable to mourn them fully.

Communion Service at 11am – St Philip’s Church

Hope Restored – 2pm at St Paul’s Church

Come to NAME, REMEMBER and HONOUR the people or situations you find yourself mourning.

Everyone grieves differently but the journey from loss to hope is one we must all undertake.

This past season has left all of us with a sense of loss and mourning while searching for Hope for ourselves and those around us.

We will be using the grounds (and a bit inside as it will be raining) at St Paul’s creatively to look at the stages of grief and offer opportunities to respond. The invitation is for anyone who would like to come so please feel free to invite your friends, local community and neighbours.

When: Sunday 1st November

Time: Come between 2pm and 4pm

Where: St Paul’s Church grounds – Map Here

Sunday 18th October 2020 – New Time – New Sermon Series

This Sunday 18th October quite a few things will be different.

We have moved our Communion service to 11am on Sunday morning. We will meet to pray from 10am for our Parish, for the Nation and the Community. Please come to both – or either!

So we will not be providing video content on Sunday morning BUT we will attempt to livestream from St Philip’s – if you are subscribed to our Youtube channel you’ll get a notification that there is a live event. You will hopefully be able to write comments and be ‘in community’ there as we’re used to. Please remember if you’re commenting on the quality of the livestream (or the sermon!) that it is good practice to have 3 positives before a negative!!

https://www.youtube.com/c/parishofgirlingtonheatonandmanningham

We are also starting a new sermon series on Ephesians called
God’s Plans for God’s People in God’s World

We really do hope you can join us – it may take a few weeks to get everything working correctly – so bear with us as we try to be a gathered community again despite restrictions.
