Sharon Bavington

I’ve lived in Bradford since 1994 moving here to work in the Dept. of Archaeological Sciences lecturing in Biological and Forensic Anthropology. I met my husband Alastair at St. Philip’s, and what was a short term contract has become rather longer term!

I have been a Reader since 2006, serving in St. Philip’s, encouraging the church to look beyond its walls to the wonderful diversity on its doorstep. Since leaving the university I have managed the church outreach project teaching ESOL to the women in the parish, and have been involved in Reader training, training for mission and ministry in multi-faith parishes and mentoring young leaders. I am currently the Lay Training Officer for the Bradford Episcopal Area. I have a passion for whole-life discipleship; encouraging both clergy and lay together to growth in faith, discover their gifts, and be released into mission.

I am married to Alastair and we have three grown up children. As well as leading worship at church, I love to play music and am a member of a clarinet choir. I also love to cook, play tennis, and read anything that challenges and inspires!
