In 2018 and 2019 we held a Persian New Year party (Nowruz) at the church for the many Persian (Iranian, Afghan and Kurdish) people that attend both the church and our community projects. Some of our Persian volunteers cooked food, we booked a Persian DJ and decorated the hall. Some of our Persian friends made a Haft Seen table, a tradition at New Year. Over 100 people attended the parties with a mixture of Persian people, church community and people from our community projects attending. It was nice for everyone to celebrate together and to learn about how the Persian New Year is celebrated. Everyone enjoyed the food, danced and had their photos taken at the Haft Seen table. Everything was ready for our New Year party in 2020 (Persian New Year is in March) but is was cancelled due to the start of lock down.
