Life Moments

Weddings

Weddings are conducted with Church of England services. They can be held at any time of the year and we would be delighted to help you prepare for your big day.

Some frequently asked questions include:

  • “Can I marry outside of my parish?”
  • “Do I need to be baptised in order to marry in church?”
  • “What is the church’s position on the re-marriage of people who are divorced?”

You can find further information on “Your Church Wedding” website.

Baptisms

Baptisms (or Christenings) can take place throughout the year. Children can be brought for Baptism as infants or much later in life. There is no age limit to baptism.

Baptisms normally take place during a Sunday service because the person to be baptised is entering the family of the Church.

Funerals

A funeral marks the close of a human life on earth. It is the opportunity for friends and family to express their grief and to give thanks for the life which has now completed its journey in this world. Finally, to commend the person into God’s keeping.

A funeral service can be very short and quiet or an occasion of great solemnity with music and hymns. Whatever the pattern of service, the words and actions all speak of a loving God and the preciousness to Him of every human being.
