Sunday 9th October 2022 – Breakfast Church and Prayer and Praise – I am the way the truth and the life

This Sunday we have Breakfast Church – St Paul’s Church – 10.30am.  Please bring someone along if you haven’t before.  This is our service that is deliberately aimed at people who are not used to Church.  If Breakfast Church isn’t really your cup of tea (and croissant!) then perhaps Prayer and Praise at 7pm – St Philip’s Church might be something to try.  We follow the same theme, but there is more singing and a more intimate feel.

Notices

U:Nite Youth Group – Saturday 8th October is our monthly united youth group meeting.  Please pray for our young people who will be meeting with other churches across Bradford for an evening of fun and fellowship.

Saying Goodbye services are returning to Bradford in October with a Baby loss remembrance and support service.  On the 29th October at 2pm, in Bradford Cathedral,  we will be hosting one of our Saying Goodbye Services.

Sunday 11th September 2022 – Baptisms, Confirmation and Commemoration

On Sunday we have our Baptism Service – clearly it will be a little different due to the death of HM Queen Elizabeth II.

Bishop Toby will be joining us for this special occasion appropriately speaking on “I am the Resurrection and the Life!”

The Bible passage can be found in John 11:17-27

At Easter 2020 during the Pandemic Lockdown our late Queen addressed the nation.

As darkness falls on the Saturday before Easter Day, many Christians would normally light candles together. In church, one light would pass to another, spreading slowly and then more rapidly as more candles are lit. It’s a way of showing how the good news of Christ’s resurrection has been passed on from the first Easter by every generation until now.

This year, Easter will be different for many of us…. but Easter isn’t cancelled; indeed, we need Easter as much as ever.

The discovery of the risen Christ on the first Easter Day gave his followers new hope and fresh purpose, and we can all take heart from this.

We will take heart from this as we declare again the new hope and fresh purpose she so clearly knew in her own life.

This service is usually a breakfast church – so we will have Brunch after the service since it will be a little different

Live stream for our service will be available via this link – https://linktr.ee/ParishofGHM

Due to the baptisms this service will have a service sheet that can be downloaded here – if you want to follow along at home.

Notices

Two downloads this week.

Tomorrow is also the 20th Anniversary of Bradford Interfaith Prayer for Peace, meeting at 7pm – poster here

Also later in the week on 16th September – Global Justice Bradford have a film evening with discussion afterwards.

A Time to Mourn – HM Queen Elizabeth II

Good Morning

We are going to open our churches between 3-4pm today Friday 9th Sept 2022 when school children are heading home – hoping to allow them to be spaces of remembrance and mourning for our whole community.  Hopefully members of our Church community will be able to be there for this historic occasion despite being so quickly organised.
There will be an opportunity to sit quietly – to think and to remember a live so very well lived.

Sunday 14th August 2022 – Breakfast Church – I am the good Shepherd

It’s Breakfast Church on Sunday! Please join us for food, fellowship and worship.  Please remember that we don’t livestream this service.

We are following a different series at Breakfast Church looking at the “I am…” sayings of Jesus.  This week it is “I am the Good Shepherd”

Remembering the verse in the book of John chapter 10 verses 1-16

This service is particularly geared towards those who don’t really get church or why we gather – if you have people in your life that don’t really understand why you go to church – why not bring them along?

Prayer and Praise

In the evening at 7pm we have our Prayer and Praise service at St Philip’s Church.  If you haven’t been to this service why not come along?  We sing, we pray, we spend some time quietly in God’s presence.  It would be good to see you there!

Sunday 31st July 2022 – Juicy – “Can service be worship?”

On Sunday our service is again a Juicy service – where we’re a bit experimental, trying new things and being a little ‘different’.  We still are in our series “Heart of worship, more than a song:” – this time asking the question – “Can service be worship?”

So we’ll be looking in quite a lot of detail at why we call our church meetings a ‘service’ – by literally doing some service – in the service.  Hope that makes sense.

We will be live streaming – but it might not all be clear from afar. Certainly the opening song and communion will be ‘normal’! (via this link – https://linktr.ee/ParishofGHM)
